updates

CRAZINESS.

I realised that I left this blog to an unimpressive state – no updates about my travels and all that, when I did mention that I would tell more about day 2 of Korea, Prague, yada yada.

The very valid reason for this is that

I've been working on a Japanese presentation to tell my class about Korea, in Japanese – which was absolutely hard work for me because I'm not fluent at it, yet, and I don't do very well standing alone in front of a sitting crowd,

I've been working on a blog post/interview for Malaysia Wedding Hub, in which my brother Jon, and I got featured in this week,

and I've been working on my very first Asian-British wedding with the awesome photographer David Bell at Buckinghamshire! I'm going to blog about it soon on Pixellot Photography's website, so feel free to follow to find out about the lovely fusion of cultures in a wedding; it was nothing short of beautiful. Follow us on Facebook to get updates and more!

I love, love love, LOVE, every day of them all! I can't tell you enough  the nice feeling when you're doing something you love, and learning more each day because every day is different!

If you've found something you love doing, please, DO IT.

Nerves

So getting the opportunity to work with Rosie Hardy was a big thing for me already, what I didn't know was.. It was for Cat Lane's wedding. Another amazing photographer who does fashion, portraits and editorial in the UK. Gosh.. I think that's probably why Rosie didn't tell me who she was.

I've linked the photo below to the full Pixellot blog post on the wedding.

Very quick updates

Busy busy. What's in line so far, in chronological order:

1) Working with Rosie Hardy as a second shooter in a client's seaside wedding! (I can't believe it myself, this is NOT a workshop with models)
2) UNI EXAMS
3) Photographers' party in Birmingham!
4) Travel with Seow Wei!
5) Peter Pan wedding (simply because couple's names are Wendy and Peter) - what happens to the Lost Boys? Oh, my first solo wedding assignment.
6) Taking photos at a little person's first birthday party in Manchester! Teehee this is gonna be so fun. I'm thinking of wearing an animal onesie but I think his mom will shoo me away. Need to start sorting out my wardrobe for different work assignments.

Aha. Back to work back to work!

Lately

I've just had a great weekend second shooting for Marianne during Elizabeth's and Nangeloum's wedding. I took the coach down to London on Friday and returned on Sunday, hence my absence for a few days. I learnt so much from Saturday, it was such a long day but it was so much fun. I must admit that by the end of the day I was almost too tired to speak, so it does take quite a lot of stamina for the job, haha.

I'm not allowed to post any photos from the wedding in public yet, but Marianne helped me request for a few photos to be allowed for viewing on my portfolio, so I'm just waiting for the green light. Oh and the one thing I'll always remember to do when I go for wedding shoots is to wear silent shoes. We ended up being barefooted throughout the whole church ceremony 'cos the flooring at the sides are made of wooden planks (it was actually quite funny).

Anyway, here are a few shots from the 48 hours of fashion event that was held in Nottingham over the weekend. I was walking around the city with my fat luggage, then saw this event so I decided to take a rest, and I got to watch a good show too.

Exams are around the corner and I might be MIA for awhile now. My bro Jon and I are working on our website, so many exciting things happening at the same time! I just wanna do my finals well or I might ban myself from touching the camera if anything goes wrong. That would be the worst nightmare ever.

Anyway, thanks for reading and hang in there for a bit! I'll be back in June!

Testing 1 2 3

My cousin Daniel got married last Friday, and although as a guest, it was my first time bringing a camera to a wedding. It was a full church ceremony followed by a reception and an after-party at the hotel. I just watched the wedding photographer as he worked, with an assistant, and this makes me wonder if I would have enough courage to work by myself during future events.

I'm in a dilemma now, and this really sucks. Firstly, my 50mm lens just broke, not literally, but the focus thingy wouldn't work anymore. And it is CRAZY difficult to manually focus during live events with people moving about very quickly. So, I'm saving up for a new lens. Besides the lens, I'm saving up for my dream full frame 6D, and also an external flash. The initial plan was to shoot budget weddings with the 50mm, then save up to earn the 6D. Now with no lens, WHERE AM I GONNA EARN THE MONEY.

My next resort would be to work, perhaps at restaurants. Damn, with my exams coming up, I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do. Hmm, it is NOT the right thing to do. So after June it is. I might even give up on summer travelling plans because I need to save up for the new baby. Argh. So no shopping, lotsa saving, and hopefully I'll have enough to get mi self a new camera soon enough.

Over out.
